Tokyo Gym Day Passes: Where to Train, Prices and Tips for Tourists

Bởi Daily Sweat9 phút đọc

Your Shinjuku hotel gym has a treadmill, a bench and little else, and you want a proper session before dinner. Tokyo has plenty of gyms that take visitors, once you know the rules.

Quick answer

Yes: as of September 2026, 53 Tokyo gyms on Daily Sweat sell a day pass, from ¥400 to ¥7,700 and typically ¥3,500 (roughly US$22 at September 2026 exchange rates). Most sell it at the front desk (50 of the 53), and many ask for a passport or photo ID. The rule that catches visitors out: 24-hour chains such as Anytime Fitness admit visitors only while reception is staffed, often 10:00–17:00.

Below: seven places worth the trip, then which ones are near your hotel, what passes cost, how buying works, and when a weekly pass beats paying by the day. For every listing, see every Tokyo gym with a day pass or the map, or our Japan page.

Seven Tokyo gyms worth the trip

From ¥400 at the public sports centres to ¥7,500 at Data Fitness — and getting in is often harder than paying, since hours, ID checks and shoe rules vary by gym. Each gym’s card shows the listing’s current price and when it was last checked.

1. Public sports centres — ¥400–¥700, Tokyo’s cheapest workout

  1. Ikebukuro Sports Center2-chōme−5−1 健康プラザとしま 9階, Tokyo400 JPY day passChecked Sep 2026¥400 for a two-hour session at Ikebukuro’s public centre, the lowest price in Tokyo.

Ikebukuro Sports Center and Shinjuku Sports Center charge ¥400, paid on arrival at reception, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Sendagaya ¥700 at the front desk. Your ticket buys a timed session, not a day: 2 hours at Ikebukuro, or 2.5 hours at the Metropolitan Gymnasium, where ¥3,000 buys the whole day; Shinjuku’s listing gives no session length, so ask.

Ikebukuro rents shoes for ¥300 (2026 reviews), has no barbells, dumbbells to 35 kg, and caps machines at 15 minutes when busy; it opens 8:30 AM – 10:00 PM, Sunday until 9:00 PM (official site). Shinjuku sells tickets from machines by reception, adds the pool for ¥600 and took cards in an October 2025 review; it is closed Mondays, otherwise 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM (official site). The Metropolitan Gymnasium has showers, requires indoor shoes, and opens 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM, Saturday until 10:00 PM (official training page).

Before you go: pack clean indoor trainers and keep bags and bottles off the floor; an August 2026 review of Ikebukuro describes strict floor rules.

2. Anytime Fitness — ¥2,000–¥3,000 in staffed hours

  1. Anytime Fitness Shinjuku YasukunidoriAnytime Fitness1-chōme−33−10 グランカーサ新宿御苑 2F, Tokyo2,000 JPY day passShowersChecked Sep 2026¥2,000–¥3,000 visitor passes in Shinjuku, Ikebukuro and Asakusa, during staffed hours.

If you know Anytime Fitness as a members-only, 24-hour club, Tokyo will surprise you: official store pages list visitor passes sold at the front desk, but visitors can enter only while reception is staffed. Shinjuku Yasukunidori charges ¥2,000, with reception 10:00–17:00, not Sundays, and a web form to book a time; Asakusa-Azumabashi ¥2,000, staffed 10:00–18:30, with photo ID showing your current address; Ikebukuro ¥2,200, reception 12:00–19:00, no re-entry, and a residence card asked of foreign visitors, so phone ahead; Asakusa ¥3,000 and cash only, reception 10:30–18:30, no staff on Wednesdays; and Higashi-Shinjuku and Shinjuku 6 Chome ¥3,000, reception 10:00–17:00.

Before you go: bring your passport; reviewers at Higashi-Shinjuku and Shinjuku 6 Chome say staff asked for one.

3. Gold’s Gym — around ¥3,500 for up to five hours

  1. Gold's Gym ShibuyaGold's Gym1-chōme−23−16 cocoti9F・10F・11F, Tokyo3,500 JPY day passChecked Jul 2026Around ¥3,500 for up to five hours at 14 branches, from Shibuya to Ginza.

Gold’s Gym’s visitor rate varies by club (¥3,080–¥3,900), paid at the front desk (last checked July 2026), and you need a passport or photo ID (official site). Gold’s Gym Shibuya, on the 9th–11th floors of cocoti, opens 7:00 AM – 11:30 PM, Sunday 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM. In Jingūmae, Harajuku Tokyo lists showers and a sauna, alongside Omotesando Tokyo; in Ginza, Ginza Chuo lists showers and Ginza Tokyo a power rack, and both require indoor shoes. The chain page lists the other nine.

Before you go: check your branch’s hours on its page. The Harajuku and Ginza Tokyo listings show Monday hours only.

4. Tipness and Konami — ¥3,300–¥3,630 with a sauna

  1. TIPNESSイーストサイドスクエア B1F, Tokyo3,300 JPY day passSaunaChecked Sep 2026¥3,300 in Shinjuku, sauna and hot tub included.

Tipness at East Side Square in Shinjuku sells its day pass at the front desk (reviews, February and July 2026), with wear and shoe rental, and squat racks booked in 30-minute slots on a whiteboard. It opens 9:30 AM – 11:00 PM on weekdays, shorter at weekends, and is closed Thursdays (official site).

Konami Sports Club Shibuya, on Shinsenchō, charges ¥3,630 for a pay-per-visit plan (都度利用プラン), per its official price page (September 2026), and lists showers and a sauna. It opens 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM Monday to Thursday, shorter at weekends, and is closed Fridays (official site).

Before you go: confirm the Tipness price at the desk, as it comes from reviews. A second Tipness in Ikebukuro, with a pool, assumes the same rate.

5. Jexer — ¥5,500 with a pool, sauna and training wear

  1. Jexer Shinjuku2-chōme-1-5 Yoyogi, Tokyo5,500 JPY day passSaunaPoolChecked Sep 2026¥5,500 with training wear provided, plus a pool and sauna.

Jexer Shinjuku, in the JR Minami-Shinjuku Building, sells “come as you are” visitor use to travellers at the front desk, per its official visitor page (September 2026); it opens 6:30 AM – 11:00 PM Monday to Thursday, shorter at weekends, and is closed Fridays (official site). Jexer Fitness Club Metropolitan Ikebukuro, on the 4th floor of Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro, charges the same ¥5,500 with wear provided and lists showers, a sauna and a pool; it’s closed Tuesdays (official site; see our Club Metropolitan page).

Before you go: skip Ueno. Jexer Fitness & Spa Ueno lists the same rate, but two reviewers (2023 and 2024) were turned away there as “members only”.

6. Warriors Gym — ¥5,500 for strength and HYROX in Roppongi

  1. WARRIORS GYM (ウォリアーズジム)3-chōme−16−35 イースト六本木 B1, Tokyo5,500 JPY day passChecked Sep 2026¥5,500 for strength and HYROX training in Roppongi, with no booking or time limit.

Warriors Gym, in a basement at Roppongi 3-16-35, sells its visitor plan at the front desk, per its official price page (September 2026): there’s no pre-registration, outdoor shoes are allowed and the HYROX area is open to visitors. A June 2026 reviewer rated the equipment highly. Open 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM, Sunday until 8:00 PM (official site).

Before you go: phone ahead; a reviewer who called in April 2026 found it closed for construction.

7. Data Fitness — ¥7,500 with everything provided

  1. DATA FITNESS3-chōme−16−33 地下1階, Tokyo7,500 JPY day passShowersFree weightsChecked Sep 2026¥7,500 with wear, shoes, a towel and a shower included, in Roppongi.

Data Fitness, in a basement at Roppongi 3-16-33, sells its one-day visitor pass at the front desk; its official “Travelers Welcome” page (September 2026) says that also includes a locker and amenities. A week costs ¥21,450 and a month ¥55,000, and an October 2025 traveller review praises the free weights (official site).

Before you go: confirm visitor entry times; the listing shows 24-hour opening, but several Tokyo 24-hour gyms limit visitors to staffed hours.

Where to train, by neighbourhood

A nearby gym can beat a cheaper one across the city once you add return transport and any shoe, wear or towel rental. Check the walk from your hotel on the Tokyo gym map.

  • Shinjuku: Shinjuku Sports Center, three Anytime Fitness branches, Tipness, Jexer and MONKEY GYM (¥3,300).
  • Shibuya: Gold’s Gym, Konami, Fit Easy and BragMen, plus the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Sendagaya (Shibuya City).
  • Harajuku and Omotesando: Gold’s Gym Harajuku Tokyo and Omotesando Tokyo.
  • Ikebukuro: the sports centre, Anytime Fitness, Jexer, Tipness, フィットイージー 池袋西口店 (Fit Easy, ¥4,400) and FITWEL 東池袋店 (¥3,300).
  • Ginza: two Gold’s Gym branches and AUN’S GYM 東京銀座店 (¥2,200 via its LINE account).
  • Asakusa and Ueno: two Anytime Fitness branches, Health Gym 浅草店 (¥3,300) and Jexer Ueno; Anytime’s Kuramae and Shin-Okachimachi branches (from ¥3,000) are also in Taito City.
  • Roppongi and Akasaka: Warriors Gym, Data Fitness, CANDY GYM (¥3,000 in a 2024 review) and Anytime Fitness Akasaka (price not yet listed).

Of the 53 listings, 25 note free weights and 19 a power rack; 12 list showers, 9 a sauna and 6 a pool — a blank doesn’t mean a gym lacks something. For lifting, most Anytime Fitness branches and Gold’s Gym Ginza Tokyo list a power rack; Ikebukuro Sports Center has no barbells. See also our hotel gym vs day pass guide.

How much does a gym day pass cost in Tokyo?

A gym day pass in Tokyo costs ¥400 to ¥7,700, typically ¥3,500, as of September 2026, across the 44 of 53 listings that show a price. What moves the price:

  • Public or private: public sports centres charge ¥400–¥700 for a timed session.
  • Access: Anytime Fitness’s ¥2,000–¥3,000 covers staffed hours only.
  • Extras: Jexer’s ¥5,500 includes training wear; Data Fitness’s ¥7,500 adds shoes and a towel.
  • Brand and theme: Fit Easy Shibuya, a large “amusement fitness” club, charges ¥5,500; ONE PIECE FITNESS BragMen in Shibuya Modi charges ¥7,700 for gym use, the top of the range.

None of the 53 listings offers a free trial, so plan on paying for every visit. Each gym’s page shows where its price came from and when it was last checked — confirm before you travel, especially in peak season.

Buying a pass: what to know

Arrive in the visitor window, with your passport

Fifty of the 53 listings sell at the front desk, but check the visitor window and closing day, not just opening hours: Anytime Fitness admits visitors only in reception windows such as 10:00–17:00, and Fit Easy asks them to register by phone or come in staff hours. Bring your passport or photo ID — required at all 14 Gold’s Gym branches; BragMen asks non-Japanese visitors for a passport, and Anytime Fitness Ikebukuro asks for a residence card. Carry cash too: Anytime Fitness Asakusa is cash only, AUN’S GYM sells through LINE, and a reviewer warns that LifeFit 浅草かっぱ橋店 needs a Japanese phone number.

What the pass leaves out

Pack clean indoor trainers in a bag, a towel and water. Seven of the 53 listings require indoor shoes, including Ikebukuro Sports Center (rental ¥300), the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, both Gold’s Gym Ginza clubs and Square Fitness Ueno; Warriors Gym allows outdoor shoes, and AUN’S GYM requires a towel. Sessions can be timed — 2 hours at Ikebukuro Sports Center, 2.5 at the Metropolitan Gymnasium, up to 5 at Gold’s Gym — and E-LIFE GYM 渋谷 (¥4,400) limits visitors to two visits. Reviews from 2024–26 say Anytime Fitness Japan bans visible tattoos; Square Fitness Ueno reviewers say tattoos are fine. Our Japanese gym etiquette guide for tourists covers the rest, and our carry-on gym packing list the kit; if no visitor window fits, try our 30-minute hotel gym workout.

「ビジター利用はできますか?」 (bijitā riyō wa dekimasu ka? — “Can I use the gym as a visitor?”)

Day pass or weekly pass?

It depends on the gym: at Anytime Fitness a longer pass pays off from your fourth visit, at Data Fitness from your third.
