London Gym Day Passes: Where to Train, Prices and Tips for Tourists

By Daily Sweat10 min read

Your London hotel gym is a treadmill and a few light dumbbells, or there’s none at all. You want a proper session between meetings or museums without signing up for a membership.

Quick answer

Yes: as of September 2026, 69 London gyms on Daily Sweat sell a day pass, with published prices from £7.50 to £50 and £10 typical (roughly US$13 at September 2026 exchange rates). The most common way to buy is online for one specific club (33 of the 69 listings), as at The Gym Group and PureGym; most independents sell at the front desk. The catch: several City gyms, including PureGym Moorgate and Fitness First Liverpool St, close at weekends.

This guide shortlists eight options across the neighbourhoods visitors tend to stay in. For the full list, see every London gym with a day pass; for other cities, browse our United Kingdom page. Not sure you need to leave the hotel? Read our hotel gym vs day pass comparison.

Prices and policies come from Daily Sweat’s listings as of September 2026. Each gym’s page shows where its price came from and when it was last checked — confirm before you travel, especially in peak season.

Listings: Blockhouse Gym, The Gym Group, The Hidden Gym, PureGym, Muscleworks Southwark, Hitio Gym Hoxton, Tonico Gym and Fitness First.

1. Blockhouse Gym: the lowest price, in Whitechapel

Consider it if: you’re staying around Whitechapel and want the cheapest London pass on Daily Sweat.

Blockhouse Gym, an independent gym at 30 Commercial Road, sells a £7.50 day pass at the front desk. A traveller review from June 2026 reports that price for a holiday visit, and an August 2024 reviewer paid the same.

It opens 7am–midnight daily. The official site invites visitors to ask about one-day memberships but gives no day rate.

Before you go: pack a towel and plan to shower at your hotel; the listing notes that showers are limited.

2. The Gym Group: a budget pass at 17 clubs

Consider it if: you want a low-cost session near the West End, the City, Waterloo or Bloomsbury.

The Gym Group has 17 London clubs on Daily Sweat, and you buy a day pass online for one specific gym at around £9.99 — the price varies by gym. It’s valid all day.

Central clubs include Charing Cross, Oxford Street, Waterloo, Holborn Circus, Monument and Bloomsbury. Most list 24-hour opening; Charing Cross and Oxford Street open 6am–10pm on weekdays and close earlier at weekends.

Before you go: choose the exact club when you buy. The pass is for that gym, and its price can differ from £9.99.

3. The Hidden Gym: gym and classes by London Bridge

Consider it if: you’re near London Bridge and want a class as well as the gym floor.

The Hidden Gym at 28 Magdalen Street lists a £10 day pass covering one visit, the gym and all classes on its own price list; you pay at the front desk. A 10-visit flexi pass costs £40.

It has free weights, and a February 2026 reviewer praised clean, warm showers with hairdryers. Hours are 6:30am–9pm on weekdays, 9am–5pm on Saturdays and 9:30am–3:30pm on Sundays (official site).

Before you go: if a class is the reason you’re going, check the timetable first.

4. PureGym: 21 clubs, many open 24 hours

Consider it if: you want to train early or late near the City, Shoreditch, the West End or Waterloo.

PureGym has 21 London clubs on Daily Sweat, and you buy a day pass for one gym in the PureGym app or online, typically for around £14.99 in central London. Prices vary by gym, from £5.99 outside the centre; PureGym Holborn lists £15.99.

Piccadilly, Tottenham Court Road, Waterloo, St Pauls and Shoreditch High Street list 24-hour opening, but Aldgate, Moorgate and Tower Hill list Saturday and Sunday as closed.

Before you go: training in the City at a weekend? Pick a 24-hour club such as St Pauls.

5. Muscleworks Southwark: heavy lifting in Southwark

Consider it if: you’re staying on the South Bank or in Southwark and your session is built around lifting.

Muscleworks Southwark, at 110 Southwark Street, charges £15 for a day pass at the front desk, according to reviewers in April and June 2026. The listing describes it as a serious lifting gym.

Hours are long: 5am–11pm on weekdays and 7am–9pm at weekends (Muscleworks page).

Before you go: the £15 comes from reviews rather than a price list, so confirm it at the desk.

6. Hitio Gym Hoxton: racks, sauna and steam

Consider it if: you’re staying in Shoreditch or Hoxton and want strength kit plus a sauna.

Hitio Gym Hoxton, at 1 Poole Street, charges £20 for a day pass according to its website FAQ, paid at the front desk. The same FAQ offers a 3-day trial membership for £15.

Reviews from March and June 2026 describe several racks, a sled and separate ladies’ and men’s sauna and steam rooms. Hours are 6:30am–10pm on weekdays, 8am–7pm on Saturdays and 10am–6pm on Sundays (official site; Hitio Gym page).

Before you go: ask whether the £15 trial is open to visitors on your dates. It costs less than one day pass.

7. Tonico Gym: a premium session in Kensington

Consider it if: you’re staying in Kensington and want a boutique gym with the extras.

Tonico Gym at 200 Kensington High Street sells a £50 daily pass through the Tonico app, according to its website pricing. It’s usable until the gym closes on the day you buy it.

A February 2026 review mentions clean showers, with towels included. Hours are 6am–9pm on weekdays and 8am–8pm at weekends (official site).

Before you go: buy the pass on the day you train, not the night before.

8. Fitness First: a pool and saunas, price shown at checkout

Consider it if: you’re working in the City or staying near London Bridge and want a sauna, a pool or plenty of racks.

Fitness First has 8 London clubs on Daily Sweat and sells day passes online for a chosen club and date (buy online), with the price shown at checkout. It varies by club, and Daily Sweat hasn’t captured a London price yet.

Clubs include Liverpool St (inside the station), Cottons on Tooley Street, Oxford Circus, Marylebone and The Strand. At Cottons, visitors between February and July 2026 report six-plus squat racks, a pool, sauna and steam room.

Liverpool St, Fenchurch St and Oxford Circus list weekends as closed. Our Fitness First day pass guide explains the chain’s passes in the UK and abroad.

Before you go: pick the date as carefully as the club.

How to choose the right London gym

Choose by neighbourhood first, then equipment, then total cost. The London gym map shows every day-pass gym around your hotel.

Start with your neighbourhood

  • Soho and the West End: The Gym Group Oxford Street and Charing Cross, PureGym Piccadilly and Tottenham Court Road, Fitness First Oxford Circus and The Strand, and Topnotch Gyms Soho.
  • The City and Liverpool Street: Fitness First Liverpool St and Bishopsgate, PureGym St Pauls, Moorgate and Aldgate, The Gym Group Monument and Buzz Gym Cannon Street; Blockhouse Gym is just east, in Whitechapel.
  • Shoreditch and Hoxton: Hitio Gym Hoxton, PureGym Shoreditch High Street and Hoxton, Amica 365 Shoreditch and New City Fitness.
  • South Bank, Waterloo and Southwark: Muscleworks, The Hidden Gym, Gym Nation, Fitness First Cottons, The Gym Group and PureGym Waterloo, and The Circle Gym and Spa by Tower Bridge.
  • King’s Cross and Bloomsbury: The Gym Group Bloomsbury, Euston Road and Caledonian Road, and PureGym Holborn.
  • Canary Wharf: In2Training Wood Wharf, PureGym Canary Wharf and Anytime Fitness Isle of Dogs.
  • Kensington and Chelsea: Tonico Gym, PureGym Kensington High Street, Anytime Fitness Kensington and Chelsea, and Retrofit London (week passes only).

Match the equipment to your workout

Of the 69 listings, 8 record free weights, 3 a power rack, 10 a sauna, 4 a pool and 5 showers; a gym outside those counts may simply be unconfirmed. For lifting, look at Muscleworks, Hitio and Fitness First Cottons. For a pool and steam room, try Cottons or The Circle Gym and Spa.

Compare the total cost

Pass price + return journey + extras such as towel hire, sauna use or classes.

Day pass or weekly pass?

Where a gym publishes both prices, the week pass pays for itself on your third visit. As of September 2026, 4 London listings on Daily Sweat have a weekly price.

Rules that catch visitors out in London

London’s traps are about which club, which day and what’s included. None of the 69 listings records a cash-only desk, an indoor-shoe rule or a women-only policy.

  • Weekend closures: PureGym Aldgate, Moorgate and Tower Hill and Fitness First Liverpool St, Fenchurch St and Oxford Circus list Saturday and Sunday as closed.
  • One club, sometimes one date: The Gym Group and PureGym passes are for one specific gym; Fitness First’s are for a chosen club and date.
  • No free trials: none of the 69 listings records one; Hitio Gym Hoxton’s paid 3-day trial is the closest.
  • Towels vary: Tonico included them in February 2026, Buzz Gym Cannon Street hires them out, and Retrofit London had stopped providing them by September 2025.

What to check before leaving your hotel

Confirm the club, the day and what your pass includes.

  • The exact club on your pass, and the date at Fitness First.
  • Opening hours on your training day, especially at weekends in the City.
  • The current price, if the listing’s figure came from a review.
  • A towel and a padlock; our carry-on gym packing list covers the rest.

If anything is unclear, send the gym a message:

Hello, I’m visiting London and would like to train at your gym on [date]. Do you sell a day pass, how much is it, and can I buy it at the desk or only online? Are you open that day, and are classes, showers and towels included?

Find a London gym that fits your trip

Daily Sweat keeps every London gym with a confirmed day pass on one page, with the price, how to buy, opening hours and facilities for each. Start with the London gym list to filter by facility, or open the map to see what is near your hotel, then confirm visitor hours and ID rules with the gym before you set off.

Search a city and use the map to find convenient options. Where available, listings show day-pass and weekly prices, how to buy access, facilities, opening hours, photos, and visitor notes. You can compare nearby alternatives and use website or map links to plan your visit. Chain pages show every branch of a brand with a confirmed pass, and day pass prices compares typical costs by country and city.

Daily Sweat is free to browse, and you don’t need an account to search. It’s a directory: you buy access through the gym or the booking option described in its listing.

Some details will still need checking, particularly when a price is missing or your visit depends on a specific facility. Traveller contributions and corrections help keep the information useful.

The aim is simple: spend less time figuring out where you can train, and more time enjoying the place you came to visit.
