Vienna Gym Day Passes: Where to Train, Prices and Tips for Tourists

By Daily Sweat10 min read

Your hotel near Stephansplatz has a treadmill and little else, and you want a proper session before the opera. You don’t need a contract: plenty of Vienna gyms sell a day pass from €10, though some turn you away without clean indoor shoes.

Quick answer

Yes: as of September 2026, 20 Vienna gyms on Daily Sweat sell a day pass, from €10 to €29 and typically €20 (roughly US$23 at September 2026 exchange rates). Most (17 of the 20) sell it at the front desk, so you can usually walk in and pay at reception. The rule that most often catches visitors out is clean indoor shoes: all three FITINN gyms require a second pair, and a visitor without one was refused a day pass in June 2026.

This guide picks eight Vienna gyms by price and neighbourhood. For the full list, see every Vienna gym with a day pass, or browse gyms across Austria; McFIT and JOHN REED also feature in our Berlin gym day-pass guide.

Prices and policies come from Daily Sweat’s listings as of September 2026. Each gym’s page shows where its price came from and when it was last checked — confirm before you travel, especially in peak season.

Daily Sweat listings: McFIT Neubau, ISC Gym, FIT21, John Harris UNIQA Tower and Schillerplatz, Trainer’s Gym Brick, MALU sportsclub, and the FITINN and JOHN REED Fitness chain pages.

1. McFIT Neubau: the cheapest day pass, open around the clock

Consider it if: you’re staying near Mariahilfer Straße and want a cheap session at any hour.

McFIT Neubau, the McFIT club at Mariahilfer Straße 96 in Neubau, sells a €10 day pass at the front desk, the lowest price on Daily Sweat’s Vienna list. Reviewers in May and June 2026, some on short trips, found it cheap, clean and friendly.

It’s listed as open 24 hours, every day (official club page).

Before you go: check the photos on the gym’s page for showers and free weights; the listing doesn’t record them yet.

2. ISC Gym: strength machines and a week pass on Mariahilfer Straße

Consider it if: you want a serious strength session and may train more than once.

ISC Gym, at Mariahilfer Straße 47 in Mariahilf, sells a €15 day pass at the front desk. Its official short-stay page (September 2026) also lists a €40 week pass and €90 a month, with no registration required.

Its listing describes 800 m² of Hammer Strength and Gym80 equipment. It opens 8am–10pm on weekdays and 9am–8pm at weekends (official site).

Before you go: training three or more times? The €40 week pass costs less than three day passes.

3. FIT21: a no-booking walk-in in Leopoldstadt

Consider it if: you’re staying in Leopoldstadt, across the Danube Canal from the old town.

FIT21, at Taborstraße 10 in Leopoldstadt, sells a €15 Tageskarte (day ticket) at the front desk. Its official FAQ (September 2026) says you can simply come by, with no booking needed.

A 2025 reviewer had to leave photo ID in exchange for a locker card. It opens 6:30am–10pm on weekdays and 8am–9pm at weekends (official site).

Before you go: bring a photo ID you’re happy to leave at the desk while you train.

4. John Harris Fitness: saunas and the only listed pool

Consider it if: a sauna or a pool matters as much as the weights.

John Harris Fitness has two Vienna clubs on Daily Sweat, both selling a day ticket at the front desk. At UNIQA Tower, on Untere Donaustraße in Leopoldstadt, a February 2026 reviewer paid €19 and praised the wellness area, and the listing records a sauna. It opens 7am–10pm on weekdays and 9am–8:30pm at weekends (official club page).

Schillerplatz, on Nibelungengasse in the 1st district, is a 5,000 m² club with a pool, sauna, steam room and whirlpool, according to its listing. A May 2026 reviewer says you can book a day ticket, but the price isn’t captured yet. It opens 6:30am–11pm on weekdays and 9am–9pm at weekends (official club page).

Before you go: ask Schillerplatz for its day-ticket price when you book.

5. FITINN: €20 in the centre, with clean indoor shoes

Consider it if: you’re staying in the old town or near Wien Mitte and train early or late.

FITINN’s three Vienna gyms on Daily Sweat list a €20 day pass, sold at the front desk: Rathausplatz and Schwedenplatz in the 1st district, and Wien Mitte in Landstraße. Rathausplatz charged €20 in June 2026; confirm the rate at the other two.

Reviews and the listings say two rules are enforced: clean indoor shoes, required at all three (a June 2026 visitor at Rathausplatz was refused a pass without a second pair), and card payment only, reported at Wien Mitte in 2024 and in the Schwedenplatz listing.

All three open 6am–midnight, every day, and Wien Mitte’s listing mentions ample free weights and plate-loaded machines (official pages: Rathausplatz, Schwedenplatz, Wien Mitte).

Before you go: pack a second, clean pair of trainers and a bank card.

6. Trainer’s Gym Brick: group classes included in Margareten

Consider it if: you want a class as well as the gym floor and you’re staying in Margareten.

Trainer’s Gym Brick, at Arbeitergasse 7 in Margareten, sells its Tageskarte at the front desk for €24.90. Its official site (September 2026) advertises €19.90 as an opening offer, with all group classes included and no long-term contract.

A March 2026 review describes a new 700 m² club. It opens 6am–11:30pm every day (official site).

Before you go: ask whether the €19.90 offer still applies; the club is new, with few reviews so far.

7. JOHN REED Fitness: three big clubs in the old town

Consider it if: you’re staying in the 1st district and want a large club.

JOHN REED Fitness sells day passes at the front desk of three clubs in the 1st district. At Wien Oper a visitor paid €25 in August 2026, and the other two are listed at the same price.

JOHN REED’s site says day passes are sold any time at the current price; all three clubs open 6am–11pm on weekdays and 8am–10pm at weekends.

Before you go: ask the price before you pay at Schottentor or Schwedenplatz.

8. MALU sportsclub: an all-inclusive day with a sauna

Consider it if: you want an all-inclusive visit with a sauna in the old town.

MALU sportsclub, on Neutorgasse in the 1st district, charges €29 for a day at the front desk, all inclusive and with no commitment, per its official price list (September 2026). The same list offers 10 day passes for €260.

Its listing describes a 1,600 m² boutique club with a sauna. It opens 6am–11pm Monday to Thursday and 6am–9pm Friday to Sunday (official site).

Before you go: agree the ticket and price at the desk; a 2024 visitor quoted €15 by phone was charged €28.

How much does a gym day pass cost in Vienna?

A gym day pass in Vienna costs €10 to €29, typically €20, as of September 2026. That covers the 14 of 20 day-pass listings with a known price. What drives the difference:

  • Budget (€10–€15): McFIT Neubau charges €10; the independents ISC Gym and FIT21 charge €15.
  • Mid-range (€19–€20): John Harris UNIQA Tower (€19) has a sauna, and FITINN is listed at €20 at all three clubs. Garage Gym’s €20 is a trial session booked online, not a walk-in pass.
  • Classes and full clubs (€24.90–€29): Trainer’s Gym Brick (€24.90) includes group classes, JOHN REED is listed at €25 and MALU sportsclub charges €29, all inclusive.

Six listings show no price yet, including John Harris Schillerplatz and Penthouse Sports, so ask before you pay.

How to choose the right Vienna gym

Choose by district first, then by equipment, then by total cost. For the general method, see how to find a gym day pass while travelling.

Start with your neighbourhood

Check the Vienna gym map for what’s near your hotel, or start here:

Match the equipment to your workout

Of the 20 listings, 4 confirm a sauna (both John Harris clubs, MALU sportsclub and Penthouse Sports), 1 a pool (Schillerplatz) and 1 showers (EVO Fitness Schleifmühlgasse), as of September 2026.

None has free weights or a power rack confirmed yet, but the gym pages describe strength kit at ISC Gym (Hammer Strength and Gym80), FITINN Wien Mitte (ample free weights) and DASGYM, whose listing describes dozens of power racks; a July 2026 review confirms it sells a day pass, at a price not yet captured.

Compare the total cost

Your practical budget is:

Pass price + return transport + the wellness extras you’ll actually use.

McFIT’s €10 pass is the bargain near Mariahilfer Straße; in Leopoldstadt, FIT21’s €15 pass saves the journey. Still deciding? See hotel gym vs gym day pass.

Day pass or weekly pass?

Buy ISC Gym’s week pass if you’ll train there three or more times. Only two of the 20 Vienna listings show a week pass as of September 2026:

  • ISC Gym: €15 a day or €40 a week, so the week pass pays off from your third visit; a month costs €90.
  • EVO Fitness Schleifmühlgasse: a reviewer paid €13 in person for a weekly pass around March 2026. No online price confirms it, so check at the desk (official club page).

Penthouse Sports in the 1st district advertises day and week passes for short trips on its official site, but Daily Sweat hasn’t captured the prices; FITINN Rathausplatz, a 2025 reviewer says, offers only day passes or yearly memberships. For the break-even maths, see our day, week or month guide.

Rules that catch visitors out in Vienna

Shoes, payment and mistaking a trial for a pass cause most problems. None of the 20 listings is cash-only or requires a towel as of September 2026, but check these:

  • Clean indoor shoes. Three of the 20 listings require them, all FITINN clubs; in June 2026 a visitor at FITINN Rathausplatz was refused a day pass without a second pair.
  • Card, not cash. FITINN’s Schwedenplatz and Wien Mitte listings say it takes cards only.
  • Photo ID. FIT21 kept a 2025 visitor’s photo ID in exchange for a locker card.
  • A Probetraining is a trial, not a day pass. Garage Gym’s €20 trial is booked online and credited if you buy more; Fitness First Landstraße and Urban Fitness Vienna publish only a free trial; MALU’s €15 trial is credited if you join. Ask for a Tageskarte (day ticket).
  • Women-only areas and mixed saunas. None of the 20 is a women-only gym, but Fitness First Landstraße has a women-only area, and a 2023 review describes the sauna at Penthouse Sports as co-ed.

What to check before leaving your hotel

Before you set off, check:

  • Clean indoor trainers in a bag, separate from the pair you walk in.
  • A bank card (FITINN’s listings say card only) and a photo ID.
  • Today’s hours; several gyms open later and close earlier at weekends.
  • That you’re buying a Tageskarte, not booking a Probetraining.

If anything is unclear, send a short message:

Hello, I’m visiting Vienna and would like to train on [date]. Do you sell a day pass to visitors, how much is it, and can I pay by card? Do I need clean indoor shoes or ID?
Gibt es eine Tageskarte? (“Is there a day ticket?”)

For fitting a second pair of shoes into hand luggage, see our carry-on gym packing list.

Find a Vienna gym that fits your trip

Daily Sweat keeps every Vienna gym with a confirmed day pass on one page, with the price, how to buy, opening hours and facilities for each. Start with the Vienna gym list to filter by facility, or open the map to see what is near your hotel, then confirm visitor hours and ID rules with the gym before you set off.

Search a city and use the map to find convenient options. Where available, listings show day-pass and weekly prices, how to buy access, facilities, opening hours, photos, and visitor notes. You can compare nearby alternatives and use website or map links to plan your visit. Chain pages show every branch of a brand with a confirmed pass, and day pass prices compares typical costs by country and city.

Daily Sweat is free to browse, and you don’t need an account to search. It’s a directory: you buy access through the gym or the booking option described in its listing.

Some details will still need checking, particularly when a price is missing or your visit depends on a specific facility. Traveller contributions and corrections help keep the information useful.

The aim is simple: spend less time figuring out where you can train, and more time enjoying the place you came to visit.
