Rome Gym Day Passes: Where to Train, Prices and Tips for Tourists

By Daily Sweat10 min read

You’ve spent the morning walking from the Vatican to Trevi, and your hotel near Termini has no gym. You’d like one proper workout before dinner without signing up for a month.

Quick answer

Yes: as of September 2026, 43 Rome gyms on Daily Sweat sell a day pass, from €8 to €50 and typically €18 (roughly US$21 at September 2026 exchange rates). All 43 sell it at the front desk, so you can usually walk in and pay at reception. The rule that most often catches visitors out is the towel: four of them require you to bring your own.

Rome’s day passes come mostly from independent neighbourhood gyms, plus the Virgin Active and Anytime Fitness chains. This guide picks eight by price and neighbourhood and flags the house rules worth checking. For the full list, see every Rome gym with a day pass, or browse the Italy page.

Prices and policies come from Daily Sweat’s listings as of September 2026. Each gym’s page shows where its price came from and when it was last checked — confirm before you travel, especially in peak season.

Daily Sweat listings: Re di Roma Sporting Club, Fitness Center Prati, Silver Fitness Porta Portese, Suite Brancaccio Fitness, Moves, Icon Palestre Barberini, and the Anytime Fitness and Virgin Active chain pages.

1. Re di Roma Sporting Club: the cheapest listed day pass

Consider it if: price matters most and Via Appia Nuova is on your route.

Re di Roma Sporting Club, at Via Appia Nuova 226, sold a tourist an €8 day pass at the front desk, according to a traveller review from June 2026. That’s the lowest price in Rome’s listings.

The club’s own site advertises single entry to the weights room and classes with no medical certificate (official site). The same review mentions clean showers with warm water.

Hours are 8am–10:30pm on weekdays and 8am–7pm on Saturdays, but only 10am–12:30pm on Sundays.

Before you go: pack a padlock, as the reviewer advises.

2. Fitness Center Prati: budget training near the Vatican

Consider it if: you’re staying in Prati and may train more than once.

Fitness Center Prati, on Via Famagosta in Prati near the Vatican, sells a €10 day pass at the front desk, according to a review from August 2026. A visitor from Australia bought a €30 weekly pass there in May 2026.

Hours are 7:15am–9:45pm on weekdays, 9am–5pm on Saturdays and 8:30am–12:30pm on Sundays.

Before you go: ask about showers and lockers. The listing has no facility details yet.

3. Silver Fitness Porta Portese: a low-cost workout on the Lungotevere

Consider it if: you’re staying near Porta Portese and want a cheap, simple session.

Silver Fitness Porta Portese, at Lungotevere Portuense 164, charges €10 for a day pass or a morning drop-in, paid at the front desk, according to reviews from May and December 2025.

Reviewers praise the showers and the helpful trainers. Hours are 7:30am–10pm on weekdays, 9am–7pm on Saturdays and 10am–2pm on Sundays (official site).

Before you go: confirm the €10 rate at the desk; the latest evidence is from December 2025.

4. Anytime Fitness: a familiar chain near Termini

Consider it if: you’re staying around Termini and want a power rack.

Anytime Fitness Giolitti, at Via Giolitti 331 by Termini, charged €15 for a visit at the front desk, according to a review from May 2026. The catch: day passes are sold only during staffed hours, although the club is listed as open 24 hours.

The listing records free weights and a power rack; a member called the club overcrowded in October 2025 (official club page).

The Regina Margherita and Lorenzo il Magnifico (Nomentano) clubs are listed at the same €15, taken from Giolitti, so confirm it there. See our Anytime Fitness page for other branches.

Before you go: ask when reception is staffed, and agree the price before you pay.

5. Suite Brancaccio Fitness: weightlifting near Colle Oppio

Consider it if: you want a weekday lifting session and you’re staying near Colle Oppio.

Suite Brancaccio Fitness, on Via Mecenate near Colle Oppio, sells a €15 day pass and a €45 week pass at the front desk, according to a review from December 2025. Tourists were still training there in July 2026.

It’s a small weightlifting gym with free weights and multifunction machines. It’s closed at weekends, open 8am–9pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and only 1pm–9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Before you go: plan around the timetable, as there are no weekend sessions.

6. Moves: a quick walk-in session by Piazza Navona

Consider it if: you’re staying around Piazza Navona and want to train without a trek.

Moves, on Via dei Coronari by Piazza Navona, takes walk-ins at the front desk for €20 a day or €55 a week, according to a review from June 2026.

That reviewer describes a tiny gym with machines, free weights and cardio, and English-speaking staff; the listing also records a sauna. Hours are 8am–8:30pm on weekdays, 9am–5pm on Saturdays and 10am–1pm on Sundays (official site).

Before you go: carry cash. The June 2026 visitor paid that way.

7. Icon Palestre Barberini: racks and long hours near Trevi

Consider it if: you’re staying near Trevi or Barberini and want an early or late session.

Icon Palestre Barberini, at Via Barberini 84 near Trevi, sells a €20 day pass at the front desk after a quick release form, according to reviews from 2025, the latest in October.

Reviewers describe a raw squat-rack area downstairs and plenty of kit; the listing records showers, free weights and a power rack. It opens 6am–11pm on weekdays and 8am–8pm at weekends (official site).

Before you go: check recent photos on the gym’s page, as some reviewers complain about cleanliness.

8. Virgin Active: a full club at a published price

Consider it if: you want a full club and a price you can check in advance.

Every Virgin Active Italy club, including all eight in Rome, sells a daily paid entry at reception, priced at €30 to €50 on the official per-club price list (September 2026). Entry includes all club services (Virgin Active Italy help centre).

Before you go: ask your hotel about agreements with a nearby club; the price may differ under them.

How much does a gym day pass cost in Rome?

A gym day pass in Rome costs €8 to €50, typically €18, as of September 2026. That covers the 38 of 43 day-pass listings with a known price. What drives the difference:

  • The type of gym. Neighbourhood independents are cheapest: €8 at Re di Roma Sporting Club, and €10 at Fitness Center Prati, Silver Fitness Porta Portese and The Energy Club. Several central independents charge €20, including Moves, Icon Palestre Barberini, Monti Fitness and Palestre Italiane Roma Termini.
  • Wellness extras. H2O Concept near Trevi charged €29 for gym plus sauna in April 2026. Doria Center Fitness Club by Piazza Venezia charges €30 for the equipment only, or €50 with the locker room, sauna, steam room and pool (reviews, 2026).
  • Full clubs. Virgin Active charges €30 to €50 by club, all club services included, and Heaven Villa Borghese €50.

How to choose the right Rome gym

Choose by neighbourhood first, then by equipment, then by total cost. For the general method, see how to find a gym day pass while travelling.

Start with your neighbourhood

Open the Rome gym map to see what’s closest to your hotel, or start with this list:

Match the equipment to your workout

Of the 43 listings, 12 record free weights and 6 a power rack. The six with a rack are Icon Palestre Barberini, Anytime Fitness Giolitti, Omega Fitness Club, San Giovanni Sport Club, Mister Gym and Trastevere Fitness.

For recovery, 7 listings record a sauna and 6 a pool, among them Doria Center, Virgin Active Piazza Indipendenza and Centro Sportivo Santa Maria (€18). Only 10 record showers, so ask if you’re going straight on to dinner.

Compare the total cost

Your practical budget is:

Pass price + return transport + any extras you’ll actually use.

Fitness Center Prati’s €10 pass is a bargain if you’re staying in Prati, less so if you’re based at Termini, where Anytime Fitness Giolitti charges €15.

Day pass or weekly pass?

Buy a week pass if you’ll train three or more times. Three of the 43 Rome listings sell one as of September 2026, and at each, three day passes cost at least as much as the week:

GymDay passWeek pass
Fitness Center Prati€10€30
Suite Brancaccio Fitness€15€45
Moves€20€55

Before you commit: at San Giovanni Sport Club, reviewers in June and December 2025 say more than one day needs an Italian medical certificate. Ask about this wherever you buy a longer pass.

Staying a month? Fitness Center Prati’s monthly membership was €75, plus a card fee, in April 2026. Our day, week or month guide walks through the break-even maths.

Rules that catch visitors out in Rome

Every listed gym sells at the front desk, but towels, cash, ID, staffed hours and medical certificates can still trip you up:

  • Bring a towel. Four of the 43 listings require one, including Mister Gym, San Giovanni Sport Club and Dolphin Fitness Center. Mister Gym is also the only listing that asks for clean indoor shoes.
  • Carry cash. Mister Gym (€15) is listed as cash only, reviews say the same of The Energy Club (€10), and the latest visitor to Moves paid in cash.
  • Have ID ready. San Giovanni Sport Club sells its day pass with ID. Heaven Villa Borghese (€50) asks for your passport and, reviews from 2025 to April 2026 say, wants your hotel to email ahead first; one visitor was told there were no day passes at all.
  • Check medical-certificate rules. Reviews say San Giovanni Sport Club needs one for more than one day; Re di Roma Sporting Club’s site advertises single entry without one.
  • Arrive in staffed hours. Anytime Fitness Giolitti sells day passes only while reception is staffed, although the club is listed as open 24 hours.
  • Book ahead where asked. Dolphin Fitness Center in Trastevere quoted its €15 day pass for advance bookings (a July 2026 review).

What to check before leaving your hotel

Confirm the price, how to pay and what to bring. Check:

  • Today’s hours. Many gyms here close early at weekends, and some shut altogether on Sundays.
  • Euros in cash, in case the desk doesn’t take cards.
  • A towel, a padlock, clean indoor shoes and ID.
  • For more than one day, whether you’ll need a medical certificate.

If anything is unclear, send a short message:

Hello, I’m visiting Rome and would like to train on [date]. Do you sell a day pass for visitors, and what does it cost? Can I pay by card, and do I need ID, a towel or indoor shoes?
Avete un ingresso giornaliero? (Do you have a day pass?)

Packing light? Our carry-on gym packing list covers towels and padlocks.

Find a Rome gym that fits your trip

Daily Sweat keeps every Rome gym with a confirmed day pass on one page, with the price, how to buy, opening hours and facilities for each. Start with the Rome gym list to filter by facility, or open the map to see what is near your hotel, then confirm visitor hours and ID rules with the gym before you set off.

Search a city and use the map to find convenient options. Where available, listings show day-pass and weekly prices, how to buy access, facilities, opening hours, photos, and visitor notes. You can compare nearby alternatives and use website or map links to plan your visit. Chain pages show every branch of a brand with a confirmed pass, and day pass prices compares typical costs by country and city.

Daily Sweat is free to browse, and you don’t need an account to search. It’s a directory: you buy access through the gym or the booking option described in its listing.

Some details will still need checking, particularly when a price is missing or your visit depends on a specific facility. Traveller contributions and corrections help keep the information useful.

The aim is simple: spend less time figuring out where you can train, and more time enjoying the place you came to visit.
