In New York the gym is never far away; the question is what one visit costs. Day passes on Daily Sweat run from $25 at Planet Fitness to $40 in Nolita, and the big chains often don’t publish a price at all.
Tourists can buy a gym day pass in New York: as of October 2026, Daily Sweat lists 54 New York gyms with one, and the 22 with a known price charge from $25 to $40, with $25 the typical price — Planet Fitness’s usual NYC rate. 44 sell it at the front desk, and Iron Oasis and SNS Strength sell online. The catch: Crunch, TMPL and PureGym don’t publish a day-pass price, so ask before you pay.
Below: eight gyms worth the trip, Manhattan first, then which ones are near your hotel, what passes cost, how buying works, when a weekly pass beats paying by the day, and the chains. For every listing, see all New York gyms with a day pass or the map.
Eight New York gyms worth the trip
From $25 at Planet Fitness on 14th Street to $40 in Nolita, with two serious strength gyms that sell passes online, two clubs with a pool and one Brooklyn powerlifting gym. Each gym’s card shows the listing’s current price and when it was last checked.
1. Planet Fitness Union Square — about $25 on 14th Street
Planet Fitness at 22 East 14th Street is one of 14 Planet Fitness clubs on Daily Sweat in New York, all listed at the chain’s typical city rate of $25; the price varies by club, from $19, and most clubs take walk-ins. Other Manhattan branches are at 215 West 35th Street, 370 Canal Street, 423 West 55th Street and three uptown, on 125th Street, East 117th Street and Broadway in Washington Heights. See the Planet Fitness chain page.
2. 92NY May Center — $30 with a sauna on the Upper East Side
92NY May Center for Health, Fitness & Sport, at 1395 Lexington Avenue, charged a visitor in July 2025 $30 for a day pass or single entry, and offers a free trial. The strength set-up is basic — one squat rack and a low bench without safety pins, a December 2025 visitor found — but there is a steam room and sauna for afterwards. Hours are 6am–10pm Monday to Thursday, 6am–8pm on Friday and 8am–8pm at weekends.
3. Iron Oasis — $35 a day, bought online, in the Garment District
Iron Oasis, at 261 West 35th Street, sells a $35 day pass and an $85 week pass on its website: no appointment, and the door access links arrive automatically once you pay. Reviewers between April and August 2026 describe a clean, private-feel gym with machines, dumbbells, squat racks and some classic Cybex pieces. Hours are 7am–11pm on weekdays and 7am–8pm at weekends (official site). Its sister Iron Oasis East, at 321 East 22nd Street in Gramercy, charges the same and opens at 6am, with power racks, competition benches and deadlift platforms.
4. GYM NYC — $40 in Nolita
GYM NYC, at 227 Mulberry Street, charged a visitor in August 2026 $40 for a day pass — a little steep, they thought, but convenient, with friendly staff and an easy purchase. Lots of free weights, plate-loaded machines and cardio, with decent locker rooms and showers. Hours are 6am–10pm Monday to Thursday, 6am–9pm on Friday and 8am–7pm at weekends (GYM NYC site). The same operator runs GYM NYC East 3rd St. and GYM NYC BK on Livingston Street in Downtown Brooklyn, which has a sauna; both are listed at $40, but confirm the rate there.
5. Crunch Fitness 38th Street — a day pass reviewers call a bargain
Crunch Fitness 38th Street, at 1385 Broadway, sold a group of visitors in May 2026 a day pass they called a bargain; the price isn’t recorded yet, and a July 2026 visitor got a free 3-day pass. A dry sauna, towel service and stocked showers. Hours are 5:30am–10pm Monday to Thursday, 5:30am–9pm on Friday and 8am–5pm at weekends (club page). Crunch has 12 New York listings; see the chains section below and the Crunch Fitness chain page.
6. TMPL Hell’s Kitchen — a pool, plunge and sauna
TMPL Hell’s Kitchen, at 355 West 49th Street, sells a day pass a visitor in August 2026 found more affordable than others in its category; they bought it for occasional use of the saline pool. The modern club has a pool, hot tub, cold plunge, sauna and steam room. The price isn’t recorded yet. Hours are 5am–11pm Monday to Thursday, 5am–9pm on Friday and 7am–7pm at weekends (club page). See the TMPL chain page.
7. Manhattan Plaza Health Club — walk in for the pool
Manhattan Plaza Health Club, on the 2nd floor of 482 West 43rd Street, sold a visitor in June 2026 a day pass for the pool, with the receptionist walking them through the sign-up sheet and payment; in August 2026 another was told they could just walk in. A Junior-Olympic pool, jacuzzi and sauna, and one of the city’s most affordable pools, a May 2026 reviewer wrote. The price isn’t recorded yet. Hours are 6am–10pm on weekdays, 7am–9pm on Saturday and 8am–9pm on Sunday (official site).
8. SNS Strength Williamsburg — $25 for a powerlifting gym in Brooklyn
SNS Strength Williamsburg, at 88 Waterbury Street, sells a $25 single day pass (plus tax) in its online shop, valid for one entry at either of its locations between 8am and 8pm and expiring 7 days after purchase; a 3-day pass is $65 and a 7-day pass $95 (official site). A regular day-pass user in April 2025 found it freezing in winter and the platforms poorly set up.
Where to train, by neighbourhood
A cheaper pass loses its appeal once you add two subway rides, so compare the journey from your hotel door to reception. The New York gym map shows every listing by location.
- Lower Manhattan: Crunch FiDi (towels; always packed), Crunch Tribeca, PureGym FiDi (24 hours) and Planet Fitness on Canal Street.
- Nolita, Noho and the East Village: GYM NYC on Mulberry Street and East 3rd Street, TMPL Avenue A (infrared sauna), TMPL Astor Place, PureGym East Village (24 hours), PureGym Noho and Crunch Bowery.
- Union Square, Chelsea and the West Village: Planet Fitness on 14th Street, Crunch Union Square (dumbbells to 120 lb), COMPLETE by CompleteBody, Crunch Chelsea, PureGym Chelsea (24 hours), Gym U NYC on West 23rd, Powerhouse Gym on West 27th and TMPL West Village.
- Midtown and Murray Hill: Iron Oasis, Planet Fitness on West 35th, Crunch 38th Street, PureGym Bryant Park, TMPL Madison, PureGym Murray Hill (24 hours), Crunch 34th Street and Iron Oasis East in Gramercy.

- Midtown East: Crunch Midtown East, TMPL Lexington (sauna and cold plunge) and Crunch 59th Street, with three floors and plenty of squat racks.
- Upper West and Upper East Side: Crunch 83rd Street (dumbbells to 150 lb and a sauna), Strength Society NYC on West 105th and 92NY on Lexington Avenue.
- Brooklyn: SNS Strength, Brooklyn Athletic Club on Berry Street ($35, with infrared saunas), Grind House Brooklyn, PureGym Williamsburg (24 hours), Crunch Greenpoint, GYM NYC BK and two Planet Fitness clubs.
- Queens: five Planet Fitness clubs, in Long Island City, Astoria, Woodside, Jackson Heights and Corona.
Lifting seriously? Of the 54 listings, Daily Sweat records a power rack at 10 (a blank means unconfirmed, not missing). Iron Oasis and Iron Oasis East, SNS Strength and Strength Society are the specialists, and check the dumbbells: 150 lb at Crunch 83rd Street, 120 lb at Union Square, but nothing over 50 lb at Crunch 54th Street.
How much does a gym day pass cost in New York?
A gym day pass in New York costs $25 to $40, typically $25, as of October 2026. Of the 54 gyms listed, 22 have a known price, and 15 of those are listed at $25.
- $25: the 14 Planet Fitness clubs (the chain’s typical rate; $19–$25 by club) and SNS Strength, online and plus tax.
- $30–$35: 92NY May Center ($30), Iron Oasis, Iron Oasis East and Brooklyn Athletic Club ($35).
- $40: GYM NYC on Mulberry Street, with its East 3rd Street and Brooklyn clubs listed at the same rate.
- Ask at the desk: Crunch, TMPL, PureGym, Manhattan Plaza Health Club, Powerhouse Gym and Gym U NYC all sell day passes, but their prices aren’t recorded yet.
Several prices are inferred or dated: the Planet Fitness listings carry the chain’s typical NYC rate rather than a price confirmed at each club, the two smaller GYM NYC clubs carry their sister club’s $40, and 92NY’s $30 is from July 2025. Each gym’s page shows where its price came from and when it was last checked.
Buying a pass: what to know
At the desk or online
44 of the 54 listed gyms sell the pass at reception. The strength gyms sell online instead: Iron Oasis sends door access links when you pay, and SNS Strength sells through its own shop, one pass per account. PureGym, the former Blink, lists a Day Pass page on its website.
A free trial is not a day pass
Crunch often emails free trial passes, but a May 2026 visitor was turned away with one at Crunch 34th Street; Grind House Brooklyn offers a free 3-day trial and 92NY a free trial alongside its paid pass. Call ahead before relying on a free offer, or ask which paid option covers a short stay.
What the pass includes
It varies a lot. Powerhouse Gym’s day pass includes all the amenities, down to tanning and red-light therapy, and Crunch 38th Street, Crunch FiDi and Grind House provide towels. At Crunch Greenpoint, bring your own lock; at GYM NYC BK you won’t need one. Crunch Union Square’s showers and sauna were closed for renovation in early 2026.
One message settles most of it
Hi, I’m visiting New York and would like to train on [date]. What is your current day-pass price including tax, can I buy it at the desk, and does it include towels, lockers and the sauna or pool?
Day pass or weekly pass?
Four New York listings sell a weekly pass, and they pay off quickly:
- Strength Society NYC: $75 for 1 week of full access, pitched at visitors and short stays, with four power racks and towels provided; there is no single-day rate. A July 2026 visitor called their week pass the highlight of the week.
- Iron Oasis: $35 a day or $85 a week, at both clubs — worth it from your third visit.
- SNS Strength: $25 a day, $65 for 3 days or $95 for 7 — the 7-day pass pays off from your fourth visit.
- Mid City Gym sold a February 2026 visitor a weekly pass; neither the day nor the week price is recorded, and month-to-month membership is $79.99.
Ask whether a package means consecutive calendar days or a fixed number of entries, and when it expires. Our day, weekly and monthly pass guide does the maths.
The chains: Planet Fitness, Crunch, PureGym and TMPL
Four chains make up most of New York’s listings, and they work differently:
- Planet Fitness, 14 listings: the cheapest walk-in, around $25 and from $19 by club, across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
- Crunch Fitness, 12 listings, 11 of them in Manhattan: day passes at the desk, price unpublished, and frequent free-trial offers. Several clubs have a sauna.
- PureGym (formerly Blink), 7 listings: a Day Pass page on its website, memberships from $45 a month, and five of the seven open 24 hours — East Village, Murray Hill, FiDi, Chelsea and Williamsburg.
- TMPL, 6 listings in Manhattan: day passes at the desk, with a pool at Hell’s Kitchen, saunas at several clubs and towel service at Madison.
Daily Sweat records 24-hour opening at 7 New York listings — the five PureGym clubs, Powerhouse Gym on West 27th Street and SNS Strength — but check whether a day pass covers the night: SNS day passes are valid only from 8am to 8pm, and Powerhouse’s 24 hours are for members.

Find a New York gym that fits your trip
Daily Sweat keeps every New York gym with a confirmed day pass on one page, with the price, how to buy, opening hours and facilities for each. Start with the New York gym list to filter by facility, or open the map to see what is near your hotel, then confirm visitor hours and ID rules with the gym before you set off.
Search a city and use the map to find convenient options. Where available, listings show day-pass and weekly prices, how to buy access, facilities, opening hours, photos, and visitor notes. You can compare nearby alternatives and use website or map links to plan your visit. Chain pages show every branch of a brand with a confirmed pass, and day pass prices compares typical costs by country and city.
Daily Sweat is free to browse, and you don’t need an account to search. It’s a directory: you buy access through the gym or the booking option described in its listing.
Some details will still need checking, particularly when a price is missing or your visit depends on a specific facility. Traveller contributions and corrections help keep the information useful.
The aim is simple: spend less time figuring out where you can train, and more time enjoying the place you came to visit.
