Mérida’s gyms are mostly old-school independents that sell a day at the front desk for a few pesos: MX$80 is the typical price, and nine of the 24 day-pass gyms are in Centro.
Tourists can buy a gym day pass in Mérida: as of October 2026, Daily Sweat lists 24 Mérida gyms with one, and the 16 with a known price charge from MX$40 to MX$150, with MX$80 the typical price. All 24 sell it at the front desk, and none sells online. The catch: 9 of the 16 prices come from reviews written before 2026, and Gimnasio BOSCO takes cash only, so carry a little more in pesos than the listed price.
Below: eight gyms worth the trip, then which ones are near your hotel, what passes cost, how buying works, when a weekly pass beats paying by the day, and where to train late or on a Sunday. Eight Mérida gyms worth the trip
From MX$40 at a small gym in Centro to MX$150 in the north, with a cash-only retro gym, a museum of bodybuilding machines with a week pass, an air-conditioned club that opens on Sundays and the city’s 24-hour chain. Each gym’s card shows the listing’s current price and when it was last checked.
1. Gym Crack Sports — MX$40 in Centro
Gym Crack Sports, on Calle 74 (No. 559, between Calles 73 and 75) in Centro, charged a visitor in June 2026 MX$40 for a day pass — “you get everything you need for a basic workout”, they wrote. Its 18 Google reviews average 5 stars, and an April 2024 reviewer praised the trainers for helping newcomers. Hours are 7am–10pm on weekdays and 7am–1pm on Saturday.
2. Gimnasio BOSCO — MX$50 cash at a retro gym in Santiago
Gimnasio BOSCO, at Calle 61 No. 550 in Barrio de Santiago, sold visitors a MX$50 day pass in January 2024, March 2025 and May 2026, paid in cash — “amazing value”, the May 2026 visitor wrote. It is a big, old-school bodybuilding gym with the whole top floor a women-only section, and reviewers found it quiet in the early and late afternoon. A May 2026 visitor reports changing rooms, showers and lockers, but very old machines and mosquitoes through the open doorways. Hours are 5am–10pm on weekdays, 6am–3pm on Saturday and 8am–2pm on Sunday.
3. Freedom Gym — MX$60 in Santa Rosa, open until 11pm
Freedom Gym, on Calle 50 in Santa Rosa, in the south of the city, charged a German visitor in June 2026 MX$60 for a day pass — “more than fair”, in their translated review, which praises the Cybex equipment for leg day. A May 2025 reviewer found the air-conditioning always working, though a March 2026 reviewer complained about inattentive staff. Hours are 5am–11pm on weekdays and 7am–5pm on Saturday.
4. Centro Deportivo — MX$80 a day or MX$300 a week
Centro Deportivo, at Calle 37 No. 507 (between Calles 60 and 62) in Centro, charged visitors in May 2026 MX$80 a day or MX$300 a week per person. It is also a piece of gym history: a January 2025 reviewer found it full of first-generation Nautilus machines, run by an 84-year-old owner for over fifty years, with photos of him training with Arnold on the walls — “They should charge museum admission”. The May 2026 visitors found most of the bikes broken. Hours are 6am–9pm on weekdays and 8am–2pm on Saturday.
5. Thunder Gym — MX$80, and a towel to rent
Thunder Gym, at Calle 86-A No. 474 on the west side of Centro, charged a visitor in November 2024 MX$80 for a day pass, plus MX$20 to rent a small towel if you forget one; they found it cleaner than another Mérida gym they tried — “Bathrooms are insanely clean too”. In January 2026 a visitor with very little Spanish got a week pass for 200 pesos with the staff’s help. Hours are 6am–10:30pm on weekdays and 7am–2pm on Saturday.
6. Black Mamba Gym — MX$100 with air-conditioning, open Sundays
Black Mamba Gym charged visitors in May and June 2026 MX$100 for a visit — “Day pass 100peso. Has A/C.”, the May reviewer wrote. A June 2026 reviewer found the staff friendly and the place clean and cool, and an August 2025 one mentions new equipment. The listing places it on Calle 57 in Chuminópolis, but both 2026 reviewers say that location is wrong. Hours are 5am–11pm on weekdays, 6am–4pm on Saturday and 8am–4pm on Sunday.
7. MGYM Muscle and Fitness Center — MX$150 in the north
MGYM Muscle and Fitness Center, at Calle 32 No. 618 in Maya, in the north of the city, is the priciest listing: “Day pass now costs 150”, a reviewer wrote in June 2026, so MX$150. It has a 4.8-star rating from 69 Google reviews, and a 2022 reviewer liked that it is not too busy to use the machines without waiting. Hours are 5am–11pm on weekdays, 7am–3pm on Saturday and 8am–2pm on Sunday.
8. Anytime Fitness — 24 hours, price at the desk
Anytime Fitness has four Mérida clubs on Daily Sweat, and its own enquiry page says most clubs charge non-residents a drop-in fee set by each branch, so no price is listed. At Anytime Fitness Mangus, Calle 11 No. 356 in Santa Gertrudis Copo, a February 2023 reviewer found day, week and month passes at competitive prices and dumbbells up to 50 kg. Its club page says the gym is open 24/7 but lists separate staff hours (club page). The most central club is Anytime Fitness Montejo, at Calle 30 No. 92-A in Colonia México, which has no hours on record; Plaza Odara in the north and Caucel in the west list 24 hours, like Mangus. See the Anytime Fitness chain page.
Where to train, by neighbourhood
Centro addresses give the street and its two cross streets (Calle 74 between 73 and 75), so the old gyms are easy to find; the chain clubs sit in shopping plazas further out. The Mérida gym map shows every listing by location.
- Centro (9 gyms): Gym Crack Sports, Gimnasio BOSCO, Centro Deportivo and Thunder Gym, plus Gym Bíceps by Parque Santa Lucía (MX$70 in a 2024 review), Armor Gym on Calle 80 (MX$80 in 2023), Legendarios GYM Mérida on Calle 73a (MX$80 in January 2025), and two listings at Calle 37 No. 507: Gimnasio California (MX$70 in December 2024) and the women-only Gimnasio Milton Ghio next door at 507a (MX$70 in July 2024).
- Montejo, García Ginerés and Chuburná: Anytime Fitness Montejo in Colonia México, B-Fitness on Calle 9 in García Ginerés (MX$100 in June 2024; an August 2025 reviewer puts it a few minutes from the Paseo Montejo Walmart), Cerberus Capital Fitness (MX$80 in July 2024, open only on weekday evenings and early on Saturday) and the bouldering gym RockSolid Mérida, both in Chuburná de Hidalgo.
- North: Anytime Fitness Mangus and Plaza Odara, MGYM in Maya, Prime Fitness in Plaza Santa Mónica and Padrinos gym in Gran San Pedro Cholul, the last two with no price on record. In Altabrisa, Up Fitness Altabrisa has no confirmed day pass; ask at the desk.
- West: Smart Fit Las Américas in Plaza Las Américas, where a January 2024 visitor bought a day pass, and Anytime Fitness Caucel.
- South and east: Freedom Gym in Santa Rosa, Black Mamba Gym, Monster’M Gym Mérida in Miraflores (MX$40 in April 2023) and Up fitness center in Vergel II (MX$100 in June 2026).
Daily Sweat doesn’t yet record facilities such as showers or free weights at any Mérida listing (a blank means unconfirmed, not missing), so lean on the reviews: visitors mention showers at Gimnasio BOSCO and B-Fitness, and air-conditioning at Black Mamba, B-Fitness and Freedom Gym. Monster’M is the Miraflores gym a December 2025 reviewer called “The best gym in Merida!”, but its MX$40 price is from 2023.
How much does a gym day pass cost in Mérida?
A gym day pass in Mérida costs MX$40 to MX$150, typically MX$80, as of October 2026. Of the 24 gyms listed, 16 have a known price, and half of those charge MX$70 or MX$80.
- MX$40–MX$60: Gym Crack Sports and Monster’M (MX$40, the latter from 2023), Gimnasio BOSCO (MX$50, cash) and Freedom Gym (MX$60).
- MX$70–MX$80, the typical range: Gym Bíceps, Gimnasio California and Gimnasio Milton Ghio (MX$70), and Armor Gym, Centro Deportivo, Cerberus Capital Fitness, Legendarios and Thunder Gym (MX$80).
- MX$100: B-Fitness, Black Mamba Gym and Up fitness center.
- MX$150: MGYM Muscle and Fitness Center.
Almost every listing is an independent: 18 of the 24, against 6 chain clubs, and none of the chains has a listed price. The cheapest gyms are no-frills bodybuilding halls, several of them without air-conditioning, and no listing records a pool or sauna.
Prices move: Armor Gym went from MX$50 in December 2022 to MX$80 two months later, Centro Deportivo from MX$60 in 2022 to MX$80 in 2026, and MGYM’s June 2026 reviewer wrote that the pass “now” costs MX$150. Seven listings have a price from 2026; the other nine are older. Each gym’s page shows where its price came from and when it was last checked.
Buying a pass: what to know
Walk in and pay at the desk
All 24 listed gyms sell the pass at reception, none sells online, and none offers a free trial. Gimnasio BOSCO is the only one marked cash-only, but at gyms this cheap, pesos are the safe way to pay. Smart Fit is more formal: a January 2024 visitor to Las Américas paid at a computer screen and was sent the contract as a PDF afterwards. At Anytime Fitness, go when the club is staffed; Mangus lists staff hours separately from its 24/7 access.
Shoes, towels and the heat
No Mérida listing records a towel or indoor-shoe rule, but the reviews do. That Smart Fit visitor, in rubber slides, was told after 50 minutes that sneakers are required, so wear training shoes. Thunder Gym rents a small towel for MX$20, Up fitness center rents clean towels, and Anytime Fitness Plaza Odara insisted on a medium towel in 2023. Many of the old gyms have open doorways: BOSCO and Milton Ghio reviewers both recommend insect repellent, and a BOSCO visitor advises bringing your own lock. Gimnasio California was shut on a public holiday in March 2026, so check holiday hours.
Women-only training
Gimnasio Milton Ghio, on Calle 37 in Centro, is the one women-only listing: a July 2024 visitor paid around 70 pesos and found the staff very friendly. It is open 6am–9pm on weekdays and closed at weekends. Gimnasio BOSCO’s top floor is a women-only section, and reviewers describe it as huge and well-equipped.
One message settles most of it
Hello, I’m visiting Mérida and would like to train on [date]. Do you sell a day pass, how much is it, and can I pay by card or only in cash? Do I need my own towel?

Day pass or weekly pass?
Count your likely workouts before buying a longer pass. Some on record:
- Centro Deportivo: MX$80 a day or MX$300 a week (May 2026) — cheaper from your fourth visit. It is the only Mérida listing with a weekly price.
- Thunder Gym: a January 2026 visitor paid 200 pesos for a week; against the MX$80 day price, that pays off from the third visit.
- Older figures: a July 2024 review of Cerberus Capital Fitness gives 200 pesos a week and 80 a day, and an April 2023 one of Monster’M 40 a visit or 120 for the week. Reviews of Padrinos gym (2024) and Anytime Fitness Mangus (2023) mention weekly and monthly passes, with no amount.
- A month: Up fitness center’s monthly fee was MX$360 in January 2026, less than four of its MX$100 day passes. At the other end, a May 2026 reviewer called Anytime Fitness Caucel’s MX$900 monthly fee poor value.
Ask whether a week means seven consecutive days or a number of entries. Our day, weekly and monthly pass guide does the maths.
Chains, late nights and Sundays
Only 6 of the 24 listings belong to a chain, and three chains sell visitors a day:
- Anytime Fitness, with 4 clubs (Montejo, Mangus, Plaza Odara and Caucel), three of them listed as open 24 hours; the drop-in price is set by each club.
- Smart Fit, with a day pass on record only at Las Américas (January 2024, no amount). Its Galerías, Macroplaza, Patio and Urban Center clubs have no confirmed pass, so ask at the desk.
- Up Fitness: MX$100 a visit at Up fitness center in Vergel II in June 2026, where the reviewer found the dumbbells dirty. Three more Up Fitness listings (Altabrisa, Las Américas and Up Fitness Gym) have no confirmed pass.
For a late session, B-Fitness and Up fitness center stay open until midnight on weekdays, and Freedom Gym, Armor Gym, Black Mamba, MGYM, Padrinos, Prime Fitness and RockSolid until 11pm. Sundays are harder: 10 of the 24 listings are closed, including Centro Deportivo, Thunder Gym, Freedom Gym and Gym Crack Sports. On a Sunday, try Gimnasio BOSCO or Gym Bíceps in Centro (both until 2pm), B-Fitness (until 5pm), Black Mamba (until 4pm), MGYM (until 2pm) or a 24-hour Anytime Fitness club.

Find a Mérida gym that fits your trip
Daily Sweat keeps every Mérida gym with a confirmed day pass on one page, with the price, how to buy, opening hours and facilities for each. Start with the Mérida gym list to filter by facility, or open the map to see what is near your hotel, then confirm visitor hours and ID rules with the gym before you set off.
Search a city and use the map to find convenient options. Where available, listings show day-pass and weekly prices, how to buy access, facilities, opening hours, photos, and visitor notes. You can compare nearby alternatives and use website or map links to plan your visit. Chain pages show every branch of a brand with a confirmed pass, and day pass prices compares typical costs by country and city.
Daily Sweat is free to browse, and you don’t need an account to search. It’s a directory: you buy access through the gym or the booking option described in its listing.
Some details will still need checking, particularly when a price is missing or your visit depends on a specific facility. Traveller contributions and corrections help keep the information useful.
The aim is simple: spend less time figuring out where you can train, and more time enjoying the place you came to visit.
