Amsterdam Gym Day Passes: Where to Train, Prices and Tips for Tourists

By Daily Sweat10 min read

Your canal-house hotel has a treadmill and a few light dumbbells, and you want a proper session between the museums. You don’t need a Dutch gym membership to get one.

Quick answer

Yes: as of September 2026, 39 Amsterdam gyms on Daily Sweat sell a day pass, from €11.99 to €50 and typically €11.99 (roughly US$14 at September 2026 exchange rates). Most sell it at the front desk (25 of the 39). The rule that catches visitors out is Basic-Fit’s: its 13 clubs, the cheapest option, sell the pass with a debit card at an orange kiosk at the entrance.

Amsterdam’s day passes come mostly from three chains, TrainMore (14 clubs), Basic-Fit (13) and SportCity (7), plus a few independents. This guide picks six and flags the house rules worth checking. For the full list, see every Amsterdam gym with a day pass, or browse the Netherlands page.

Prices and policies come from Daily Sweat’s listings as of September 2026. Each gym’s page shows where its price came from and when it was last checked — confirm before you travel, especially in peak season.

Daily Sweat listings: Basic-Fit, Double Shift, SportCity Weteringdwarsstraat, TrainMore, Vondelgym and Clubsportive.

1. Basic-Fit: the cheapest pass, bought at a kiosk

Consider it if: price matters most and one of its 13 clubs is near where you’re staying.

Basic-Fit sells a standard €11.99 day pass (it may vary slightly by club) at its 13 Amsterdam clubs, and you buy it with a debit card at the orange kiosk at the club entrance. The most central are Basic-Fit Amstelstraat by Rembrandtplein and Stadhouderskade on the edge of De Pijp.

Two clubs, Overtoom Ladies in Oud-West and Europaboulevard Ladies by the RAI, are women-only. Most clubs list 24-hour opening; Ernststraat, President Allendelaan and the two Ladies clubs list 7:00 AM – 10:30 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM at weekends. The listings, last checked in July 2026, don’t yet record showers or equipment (Basic-Fit website).

Before you go: carry a debit card for the kiosk.

2. Double Shift: classes and a sauna in the Jordaan

Consider it if: you’re staying in the Jordaan and want classes or a sauna with your workout.

Double Shift, at Lauriergracht 102 in the Jordaan, sells a €19 day pass at the front desk or on its website. According to the gym’s own price list (September 2026), that covers all facilities and group lessons, and a €49 week pass gives a week of unlimited gym access.

A May 2026 reviewer describes a Finnish sauna shared between the sexes and a large working area with desks. Hours are 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM at weekends (official site).

Before you go: if you’ll train three or more times, buy the €49 week pass instead; it costs less than three day passes.

3. SportCity: showers, sauna and free weights near the Rijksmuseum

Consider it if: you’re staying near the Rijksmuseum and want a shower and a sauna after training.

SportCity Weteringdwarsstraat, on Eerste Weteringdwarsstraat near the Rijksmuseum, sells a €20 day pass at the front desk, according to a July 2026 review by a visitor. That reviewer says the pass runs for 24 hours, so you can come back the next day.

The listing records showers, a sauna, free weights and Technogym machines. Hours are 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM on weekdays and 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM at weekends (official club page).

SportCity’s own site advertises day passes from €12.99, so €20 appears to be this branch’s rate; its other Amsterdam clubs have no branch price yet (see our SportCity page).

Before you go: agree the price in writing before you pay. The Cornelis Schuytstraat and Looiersgracht listings advise this after a July 2026 reviewer said the gym targets tourists and non-Dutch speakers.

4. TrainMore: the biggest chain, from Centraal Station to the Jordaan

Consider it if: you want a club close to your hotel and don’t mind paying more for extras.

TrainMore has 14 Amsterdam clubs on Daily Sweat, and reviews confirm visitor day passes at seven of them, sold at the front desk for €25–€30 depending on the club. TrainMore Oosterdok, by Centraal Station, quoted €25 in June 2026; Singel Black Label and Noordermarkt Red Label charged €30 in July 2026.

Extras vary. A July 2026 visitor to Singel says the €30 covered coffee, protein shakes and water but no towel. Reviewers describe a towel service at Plantage Red Label and free towel rental at Noordermarkt, where one found no lockers in the changing room.

For lifting, Rozengracht Black Label in the Jordaan and TrainMore West on Bos en Lommerplein are the only Amsterdam listings that record a power rack; a July 2026 reviewer counts three squat racks at West, free until around 11am. Most clubs open 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM on weekdays and 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM at weekends (official Oosterdok page).

Before you go: ask whether your first visit is free. Reviewers at Oosterdok in March and May 2026 mention a free day pass or trial for travellers.

5. Vondelgym: free weights, boxing and CrossFit

Consider it if: you want a serious strength or CrossFit session in Oud-West or Oost.

Vondelgym, at Overtoom 143 near the Vondelpark, takes single-visit drop-ins at the front desk, but no current price is listed; the last quote was €19, in a September 2024 review. A July 2026 reviewer describes machines, free weights, a boxing area, classes and CrossFit.

It opens 6:00 AM – 10:30 PM on Mondays, 6:30 AM – 10:30 PM Tuesday to Thursday, 6:30 AM – 9:00 PM on Fridays and 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM at weekends (official site).

Its sister gym, Vondelgym Oost on Wibautstraat, sells a week pass covering the gym floor and CrossFit classes; reviewers in May and August 2026 call it reasonably priced.

Before you go: ask for the current drop-in and week-pass rates; neither is listed yet.

6. Clubsportive: a pool and sauna in Zuidas, at the top price

Consider it if: you’re in Zuidas and want a swim or a sauna with your workout.

Clubsportive, at Gustav Mahlerlaan 24 in Zuidas, charges €50 for a day pass at the front desk, the highest price in Amsterdam’s listings. A July 2026 reviewer says the price rose from €30 to €50, and a June 2026 visitor paid €30 for a trial day.

It is the only Amsterdam listing that records a pool, alongside showers and a sauna, but the pool must be booked and has only three lanes; the June visitor couldn’t use it. Reviewers praise the showers and toiletries and describe a mixed sauna that seats about eight.

An April 2026 reviewer found the door policy inconsistent, with some guests admitted free while others paid. Hours are 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM on weekdays and 8:00 AM – 9:30 PM at weekends (official site).

Before you go: if you want to swim, book the pool before you set off.

How much does a gym day pass cost in Amsterdam?

A gym day pass in Amsterdam costs €11.99 to €50, typically €11.99, as of September 2026. That covers the 20 of 39 day-pass listings with a price, most of them Basic-Fit clubs at its standard rate. What drives the difference:

  • The chain. Basic-Fit charges €11.99, SportCity €20 at Weteringdwarsstraat and TrainMore €25–€30, depending on the club.
  • What’s included. Double Shift’s €19 covers group lessons and all its facilities; one visitor’s €30 at TrainMore Singel came with coffee and protein shakes.
  • A pool. Clubsportive charges €50 and is the only listing with a pool.

How to choose the right Amsterdam gym

Choose by neighbourhood first, then equipment, then total cost. For the general method, see how to find a gym day pass while travelling.

Start with your neighbourhood

Open the Amsterdam gym map to see what’s closest to your hotel, or start with this list. Gyms without a price have none listed yet.

Match the equipment to your workout

Of the 39 listings, 8 record free weights and 2 a power rack (TrainMore Rozengracht and West). For recovery, 12 record a sauna, 6 showers and 1 a pool (Clubsportive). A blank means unconfirmed rather than missing.

Reviewers praise TrainMore Plantage’s two floors of free weights but find those at SportCity Waterloo and Cornelis Schuytstraat limited.

Compare the total cost

Your practical budget is:

Pass price + return transport + any extras you’ll actually use.

Basic-Fit’s €11.99 is the cheapest way in, but Double Shift’s €19 adds a sauna and classes. If your hotel gym covers the basics, read hotel gym vs gym day pass first.

Day pass or weekly pass?

At Double Shift, buy the week pass if you’ll train three or more times. It is the only Amsterdam listing with a published week price as of September 2026: €49 a week against €19 a day, so the week pays off from your third visit.

  • Vondelgym Oost also sells a week pass, including CrossFit classes; ask for the price.
  • SportCity Weteringdwarsstraat’s €20 pass runs for 24 hours, a July 2026 reviewer says.

Staying a month? Double Shift’s memberships start at €89 per four weeks. Our day, week or month guide walks through the break-even maths.

Rules that catch visitors out in Amsterdam

None of the 39 listings requires indoor shoes or your own towel, and none is cash only. The surprises are how you pay, who can enter and what’s included:

  • Basic-Fit uses a kiosk. Its 13 clubs sell the pass with a debit card at the orange kiosk at the entrance.
  • Women-only clubs. Of the 39 listings, 2 are women-only: Basic-Fit’s Overtoom Ladies and Europaboulevard Ladies.
  • Agree the price first. TrainMore and SportCity prices vary by club, so confirm yours before paying.
  • Saunas can be mixed. Of the 39 listings, 12 record a sauna. Reviewers describe mixed saunas at Double Shift and Clubsportive; at SportCity Cornelis Schuytstraat, they say the sauna is used naked and female staff enter the men’s changing room.
  • Towels vary. Reviewers describe a towel service at TrainMore Plantage, but a July 2026 visitor to TrainMore Singel got none.
  • Book where asked. Clubsportive’s pool must be booked, and a May 2026 reviewer at TrainMore Weteringschans advises booking online before a one-day visit.

What to check before leaving your hotel

Confirm the price at your club, how to pay and what’s included. Check:

  • A debit card for Basic-Fit’s kiosk.
  • Whether you can buy online: 9 of the 39 listings sell that way, including Double Shift.
  • Weekend hours: several Basic-Fit clubs close at 4:00 PM and most SportCity clubs at 6:00 PM.
  • A towel, in case your club doesn’t provide one.

Unsure? Send a short message; English is widely spoken, so the Dutch line is optional:

Hello, I’m visiting Amsterdam and would like to train on [date]. Do you sell a day pass for visitors, and what does it cost? Can I pay by card, and are towels, lockers and the sauna included?
Hebben jullie een dagpas? (Do you have a day pass?)

Find an Amsterdam gym that fits your trip

Daily Sweat keeps every Amsterdam gym with a confirmed day pass on one page, with the price, how to buy, opening hours and facilities for each. Start with the Amsterdam gym list to filter by facility, or open the map to see what is near your hotel, then confirm visitor hours and ID rules with the gym before you set off.

Search a city and use the map to find convenient options. Where available, listings show day-pass and weekly prices, how to buy access, facilities, opening hours, photos, and visitor notes. You can compare nearby alternatives and use website or map links to plan your visit. Chain pages show every branch of a brand with a confirmed pass, and day pass prices compares typical costs by country and city.

Daily Sweat is free to browse, and you don’t need an account to search. It’s a directory: you buy access through the gym or the booking option described in its listing.

Some details will still need checking, particularly when a price is missing or your visit depends on a specific facility. Traveller contributions and corrections help keep the information useful.

The aim is simple: spend less time figuring out where you can train, and more time enjoying the place you came to visit.
